David ground driving Ebony on a beautiful afternoon.
How It All Began

I have been interested in horses as far back as I can remember. When I was little, I dressed up in a cowgirl outfit and my Mom could not get it off of me. When I was 8 or 9, I would walk to a friend's house where her sister would educate us on the different parts of a horse, using a diagram on the wall. I was mesmerized! By the time I turned 16, I saved enough money and bought my very first horse, a grade horse from a dude ranch.

Fast forward several more years; I got married. Since my husband was in the Marines, we lived in California for a while. Eventually, we moved back home to Minnesota and started a family. I took riding lessons intermittently at different stables. And despite living on 20 acres in the Minnesota River Valley, as I grew older, I decided I might have to give up on ever owning a horse again. But life has a way of changing things.

We went to the Minnesota State Fair in 2006, and as usual, I compulsively ran to the horse barns and judging arenas. It was that moment I discovered minis! I was so excited I could hardly breathe. My daughter voiced her prediction, "mom's going to buy a horse." And sure enough, I bought Ebony, Sar and Goldie: just the beginning of a wonderful herd. We have since added a more and love them all!

In Loving Memory

Silverleaf Rock N Thunder died at the end of Summer 2009. The causes of his tragic death were unknown. He was young, a true champion with mountains of potential. He will be sorely missed.
